With the middle of summer upon us, Kansas City is bustling with fun activities and locales for all ages. These 4 destinations not only provide fun and food, but also feature some of our favorite unique signage in the city.
1. The Roasterie. Getting up in the morning is hard, but coffee helps make it easier. The Roasterie’s factory café in KC, MO alludes to their air-roasting method with a plane featured on their building. With custom font and their iconic airplane incorporated throughout their branding and signage, it’s easy to see how they separate themselves from other coffee joints and roasters.
2. Worlds of Fun/Oceans of Fun. Summer means lots of time to get out and play. Before entering the park, take a minute to admire the whimsical pylon sign with hot air balloon and vibrant colors. We also love how they carry those colors to their personal water tower, visible from several highways including I-35 and I-435.
3. Town Topic. Celebrating 75 years of business, this burger joint is a legend in Kansas City, serving up shakes and other diner favorites. Drive through the Crossroads district and it’s hard to miss their powder blue neon sign jutting off the building’s façade.
4. Old Westport. With its covered wagon and western-themed sign, this district gives a nod to Kansas City’s Midwest locale and prairie roots. Another bonus? Some of the best restaurants and bars call this sweet spot of Kansas City home.
